AI Horde

AI Horde

AI Horde is a free, crowdsourced inference network: volunteers donate GPU time to run Stable Diffusion (SD1.5, SDXL, Flux, Stable Cascade), text LLMs and image interrogation jobs. You submit work through a REST API or the browser studio; volunteer workers pull it off a priority queue. Usage is metered in Kudos — a non-crypto karma currency earned by contributing GPU cycles, filling captcha forms, or donating. Anonymous requests work at lower priority. Supports img2img, inpainting, ControlNet, transparent backgrounds and QR-code art. Built for developers who want free image and text generation without owning a GPU. Open source, run by the non-profit Haidra, funded by donations and NLnet — no VC, no paywall, no data resale.

Everything worth knowing about AI Horde

The complete picture — from everyday features to the technical detail builders and IT folks dig for.

Core features

What it actually does

Free Image Generation
Type a prompt and get images back from volunteer GPUs. No account needed — anonymous requests just sit lower in the queue with tighter limits.
Text Generation
The same network also serves LLM text requests, queued as kilotokens alongside the image queue.
Alchemy Tools
A separate queue for utility jobs like image interrogation (pulling prompts/tags back out of an image), run by dedicated volunteer workers.
REST API
Everything on the site is backed by a documented REST API at aihorde.net/api — build your own client, bot or app on top of the horde.
Contribute a Worker
Point your own GPU at the network, serve requests, and earn kudos you can spend on priority generations.
Technical capabilities
Kudos Priority System
Compute is rationed by a non-crypto karma currency. Contributions and donations earn kudos; spending them buys queue priority. Anonymous users get the leftovers.
Anti-CSAM Filtering
Two-stage filtering — regex matching plus an AI classifier — blocks abusive requests, and workers can return placeholder (black-with-text) images for blocked content.

  • Anonymous requests allowed with lower priority
Where it falls short
  • Queue waits; anonymous users get lower priority
  • Model availability depends on online volunteers
  • NSFW generations may be filtered or censored
  • No uptime SLA or guaranteed capacity
Technical limitations
